Pretty Things jewellery is handmade at my home in the Surrey countryside.

Materials

I try to find unusual beads and findings to make my jewellery that little bit different.

Semi-precious gemstones have long been used in jewellery and are said to have particular powers or meanings - rose quartz is associated with romance, amethyst is said to guard against drunkenness, haematite imbues strength, and so on. I make no claims for my gemstones, but will give detais of their meanings so that you can decide for yourself!

I use handmade lampwork beads, made by some very talented glass artists who work with molten glass glass and flame to make little works of glassy art. I believe it is important to credit the artist and so will always give the names of the people who make the beads I use.

Hallmarking

It is a legal requirement that where the silver content of a piece exceeds 7.78 grams, it must be assayed and hallmarked by one of the UK Assay Offices.  Metal which is not hallmarked cannot legally be described as Sterling Silver.

I am not yet registered with the Assay Office and so cannot describe the metal used in my jewellery as Sterling Silver. I do buy my findings and wire from reputable bullion suppliers such as Cookson Gold, The Silver Corporation and Palmers Metals.

Packaging and delivery

All Pretty Things jewellery comes carefully packed in a pretty gift box, or for some larger items, an organza bag.  Your purchase will be sent by First Class Recorded Delivery and will be posted within 24 hours of my receiving your cleared payment.

Gift wrapping service

If you are buying an item as a gft, I will be happy to post the item straight to the recipient. It will be prettily wrapped in wrapping paper to suit the occasion, with your personal message handwritten on an appropriate card. Please email me to discuss your requirements.

Parties

Why not host a Pretty Things jewellery party in your home?  I will bring my jewellery to you!

It would be helpful if you could provide a table; a dining table would be just right.  If you don't have a table, don't worry, I can bring one with me. Other than that, all you need to arrange is for your friends and family to attend - between 8 and 20 people should be the right number.  Some hostesses like to have drinks and nibbles but that's entirely up to you. You and your guests will be able to browse my jewellery and try on any pieces that take your fancy. As hostess, you will receive jewellery to the value of 15% of the sales at the event.

If you live in the Epsom/Ashtead/Leatherhead area, please contact me to discuss further.
